More Details on Our Top Picks
Yakry Y14 RV Backup Camera with Night Vision
The Yakry Y14 is a wired backup camera built for RV owners who want a reliable image without depending on Wi-Fi. Its clearest strength is the 7-inch IPS HD monitor with a 66-foot cable, so the feed stays stable even when your trailer is long.
An honest limitation is that the wired setup limits where you can place the camera, and you must route the cable carefully through your rig. It differs from wireless models by using a single power supply for both units, which simplifies wiring but ties the monitor to the vehicle’s power source.
You can connect via the lighter socket, ACC, or fuse, and setup takes about eight minutes. The IR night vision helps you spot objects in low light, while the parking lines and flip/mirror views reduce strain when reversing.
With a 150-degree wide angle that isn’t fisheye and a sunshade that cuts glare, this model favors clarity over convenience. If you’re choosing among RV cameras, pick the Yakry Y14 when you prioritize dependable wired viewing over the freedom of wireless installation.

Yakry Wireless RV Backup Camera with 7-Inch Monitor
This Yakry wireless RV backup camera suits drivers who tow long rigs and need a dependable rear view on the road. Its biggest strength is the dual antenna and signal chip, which deliver a smooth picture with a 50% faster refresh rate and an 825-foot open-air range.
A fair drawback is that the listed 320-foot vehicle range may shrink when you park near metal walls or in hilly terrain. It stands apart from single-camera systems by supporting four cameras, so you can watch the hitch and the rear of the trailer at once.
The 7-inch 1080p monitor switches channels easily, and its eight infrared lights handle nighttime hookups. The pre-wired Furrion bracket keeps installation around 30 minutes, and the IP69K weather rating protects against rain and dust.
You can set it to reverse-only or full-time view, and use the recording feature as a dash-cam backup. For long trailers, this is a solid match when you would rather see the hitch than guess blindly.
- System Type:Wireless backup camera system
- Viewing Angle:Not specified
- Image Resolution:1080P monitor
- Night Vision:8 infrared lights
- Water Protection:IP69K
- Connection:Wireless
- Additional Feature:825-foot open-area range

- Additional Feature:DVR recording function
7-Inch 1080P AHD Wired Rear View Camera System
This heavy-duty 7-inch AHD system is best for drivers of buses, RVs, or work trucks who need a rugged rear view.
It gives you a 1080P color camera with a 120-degree view, night vision, and IP69K waterproofing for harsh weather.
The clear strength is its 10G vibration rating, so it stays steady on rough routes.
That rating means it handles vibration, not that you should use it as a hammer.
One honest limitation is that the monitor itself isn’t waterproof, so keep it inside the cab.
Another drawback is the wired setup, which needs more installation effort than a wireless camera.
Compared to most single-camera systems, this monitor accepts two cameras and runs on 12-24V.
The trigger wires switch to the rear view when you reverse, a feature many basic monitors lack.
You can choose reverse-only or continuous viewing, and adjust guide lines, mirror settings, and day/night modes.
These controls make it easy to match your preferred display style.
- System Type:Wired rear-view camera system
- Viewing Angle:120°
- Image Resolution:1080P
- Night Vision:Night vision
- Water Protection:IP69K camera; monitor not waterproof
- Connection:Wired; 4-pin connectors
- Additional Feature:Three screen modes
- Additional Feature:Customizable distance grid
- Additional Feature:Remembers previous settings
Voyager VCMS17B Rear-Mount Camera with LED Low-Light Assist
The Voyager VCMS17B is best for drivers who back up a trailer or van at night and want a clear view without extra floodlights. Its clear strength is the 12 infrared LEDs in the housing, which light the area beyond what headlights reveal.
One honest drawback is the standard five-foot cable, which is too short for large rigs unless you buy an extension. This sets it apart from simpler rear-view cameras that have no IR assist and work only with ambient light.
You still get high-performance color optics for daylight, and the mirror orientation shows the scene just as you would see it in a rearview mirror. The IP69K waterproof rating protects against high-pressure washing, and a 12-volt DC supply powers the unit.
At just 2.76 by 1.76 by 2.07 inches, it is compact enough for tight mounts and includes a built-in microphone so you can hear sounds behind you. The five-foot cable suits a nearby display, while optional 10-, 25-, 50-, and 75-foot extensions handle longer runs.
Choose it for straightforward, weather-ready visibility when parking or hooking up a trailer, and you will stay in control. You will still steer, but with a much better idea of what is behind you.
- System Type:Rear-mount camera
- Viewing Angle:Not specified
- Image Resolution:Not specified
- Night Vision:12 IR LEDs
- Water Protection:IP69K
- Connection:5-ft cable included
- Additional Feature:Built-in microphone
- Additional Feature:Mirrored image orientation
- Additional Feature:12V DC operation
Voyager VCMS172B Waterproof Rear Mount Observation Camera
The VCMS172B is best for RV owners who want a simple, weather resistant rear view camera for backing into tight campsites.
Its main strength is the waterproof housing, which stands up to rain and road grime on an exposed rear mount.
It uses a 600 TV line image sensor, so the picture is clear but not high definition.
The 123-inch CMOS sensor and electronic automatic iris adjust to changing light, and the microphone that is built in lets you hear what is behind you.
The mirrored image orientation gives you a familiar backing view, though you need to confirm your monitor supports this camera.
Its honest drawback is that 600 TV lines is lower resolution than newer HD cameras, so distant details will be softer.
Compared to other rear observation cameras, the VCMS172B stands out for its integrated microphone and straightforward installation.
It does not offer parking guidelines or night vision, so it is best for basic visibility rather than high tech assistance.
This camera cannot park your RV for you, but it gives you a solid, dependable view.
If you need a budget friendly, weatherproof option, this is a solid choice.
- System Type:Rear-mount camera
- Viewing Angle:Not specified
- Image Resolution:600 TV lines
- Night Vision:Not specified
- Water Protection:Waterproof; rating not specified
- Connection:Not specified
- Additional Feature:Automatic electronic iris
- Additional Feature:Built-in microphone
- Additional Feature:Mirrored image orientation
1080P Wireless Backup Camera with 7-Inch Monitor
This 1080P wireless kit is best for RV and trailer owners who want a quick install without drilling or running wires. Its clear strength is the long running 15,000mAh battery, which lasts about 24 hours after a five hour charge, plus the 5W solar panel to top it up.
An honest limitation is the short 33 foot range, so the 2.4GHz signal can get shaky on longer trailers or when the camera is far from the monitor. Compared with other wireless backup cameras, this one is unique because it combines a solar panel with a large battery, while most similar kits require hardwiring or more frequent charging.
You get a seven inch glare reducing HD screen and a 170 degree view, so backing into a campsite feels less like guesswork. Six rubber coated magnets attach without drilling, and the IP69 rated housing resists water and weather.
Frequency hopping lets the radio change channels rapidly to hold a steady signal, but you still have to stay within 33 feet. This is a smart pick when you hate running wires and want a low hassle setup.
- System Type:Wireless backup camera system
- Viewing Angle:170°
- Image Resolution:1080P
- Night Vision:Night vision
- Water Protection:IP69
- Connection:2.4GHz wireless
- Additional Feature:Six-magnet mounting base
- Additional Feature:15,000mAh rechargeable battery
- Additional Feature:Solar-assisted charging
HD 1080P Backup Camera with Night Vision
Voyager’s compact 1080P camera is best for drivers who want a reliable wired backup solution without wireless interference.
Its main strength is consistent color video at night, thanks to six white LEDs and an anti-halo chip.
The honest limitation is the 25-minute installation, which requires connecting wires and choosing a power source.
This model differs from wireless cameras by giving you a stable 150° view and adjustable grid lines.
The 4.3-inch LCD shows clear color footage, and you can tweak brightness, contrast, flipped image, and parking guides.
Sealed to IP69, it operates from -22°F to 176°F, so it handles harsh weather.
Power it from your lighter, a switch, or reverse lights for flexible setup.
If you prefer a secure connection over quick installation, this wired camera fits the bill.
- System Type:Wired backup camera system
- Viewing Angle:150°
- Image Resolution:1080P
- Night Vision:Color night vision with 6 white LEDs
- Water Protection:IP69
- Connection:Wired; 4-pin cable
- Additional Feature:4.3-inch LCD monitor
- Additional Feature:Customizable parking grid
- Additional Feature:360-degree suction bracket
Voyager VCMS12RGP Right-Side CMOS Camera with Rubber Cover
This camera is best for drivers who want a dedicated right side view and do not yet have a side camera. Its main strength is the wide 131 degree lens, which shows more beside your vehicle when backing or changing lanes.
One honest limitation is that it is not a replacement for a rear camera, so you still need a separate backup view. Unlike dual lens cameras, this unit records only the right side, giving you a simpler and cheaper option for that specific blind spot.
The Super CMOS sensor and color optics give a clear image, and the IPX6 rating means it can handle strong water jets. It is a 12V camera with a rubber lens cover and grey zinc alloy housing.
It uses NTSC video output and replaces the VCMS36 and VCCSID models. If you need side coverage without the cost and complexity of a full multi camera system, this is a practical choice.
- System Type:Right-side CMOS camera
- Viewing Angle:131°
- Image Resolution:Not specified
- Night Vision:Not specified
- Water Protection:IPX6
- Connection:Not specified
- Additional Feature:Right-side blind-spot view
- Additional Feature:Rubber lens cover

Voyager ToughCam 7-Inch Camera Observation System
ToughCam’s 7 inch camera observation system suits RV owners who want a practical backup camera with a large screen.
It is a strong choice for a motorhome or travel trailer where a clear rear view matters.
The system’s main strength is the wide screen LCD, which gives you a roomy look at the camera feed while you reverse.
The CMOS camera delivers a steady daytime image, and the included 4 inch monitor mount makes positioning easy.
One honest limitation is that this is a live view system only, so it does not record video and you must route the wired cable through your RV.
If you want footage for insurance or security, look for a camera system with recording capability.
This model differs from other Voyager observation products by pairing the 7 inch monitor with universal mounting that uses four holes and locking 4 pin connectors.
Those connectors accept 25 or 75 foot cables, which helps when your rig’s layout calls for extra reach, and the monitor mates with existing Voyager LCD monitors.
Use the manual push button or automatic trigger source selection to choose the camera feed, and adjust picture and volume from the controls on the monitor.
Choose ToughCam for a compact, rugged reversing setup that fits your Voyager system.
- System Type:Camera observation system
- Viewing Angle:Not specified
- Image Resolution:Not specified
- Night Vision:Not specified
- Water Protection:Not specified
- Connection:Locking 4-pin connectors
- Additional Feature:On-screen picture adjustments
- Additional Feature:Automatic trigger selection

Wide-Angle Waterproof Night Vision Backup Camera
The DALLUX HC5000 is best for RV and trailer drivers who often back into dark campsites or boondocking spots after sunset.
Its clear strength is night vision: 18 infrared lights let you see up to 50 feet in total darkness, and the sensor handles scenes with very little light.
The honest drawback is image detail: 800 TVL and 976×576 pixels give a clear safety view, but they are not as sharp as an HD backup camera.
Unlike many rival backup cameras, this one does not depend on porch lights or moonlight; it lights the area itself with those IR LEDs.
The housing is another differentiator: IP69K waterproof zinc and stainless screws handle pressure washing and rough weather better than typical IP67 models.
The rotating bracket mounts on the top or bottom of the rig, so you can aim the wide 130 degree view past spare tires or ladders, but check your monitor’s cable fit and buy an extension cable separately if needed.
If you want dependable reverse visibility at dark campsites, this camera is a practical pick over higher-resolution models that struggle without ambient light.
Buy it when your priority is night-time backing, not crisp HD playback.
- System Type:4-pin backup camera
- Viewing Angle:130°
- Image Resolution:800 TVL (976 × 576 pixels)
- Night Vision:18 IR lights; up to 50 ft
- Water Protection:IP69K
- Connection:4-pin video connector
- Additional Feature:Zinc-metal casing
- Additional Feature:Rotatable mounting bracket
- Additional Feature:Stainless-steel screws
Buyers Products 8883101 Heated Night Vision Backup Camera
Buyers Products 8883101 is best for fleet drivers and contractors who back up work trucks in harsh winter weather. Its standout strength is the built-in heater, which melts snow and ice off the lens before you shift into reverse.
The 120-degree wide angle and night vision give a usable view after dark, while IP69K protection keeps out water and dust in tough conditions. An integrated microphone sends real-time audio so you can also hear what is behind you.
The honest limitation is that it has no stated price and uses a 4-pin connection, so you need to check compatibility with your vehicle and monitor before buying. It also lacks a recording function, unlike many dash cams, so this is a pure backup camera, not a full video recorder.
Compared with standard backup cameras, this one stands apart by combining heat, low-light visibility, and rugged sealing in a single unit. If you want a reliable reversing view where winter is rough, choose this model; if you need front-facing recording or parking lines, look elsewhere.
- System Type:4-pin add-on backup camera
- Viewing Angle:120°
- Image Resolution:Not specified
- Night Vision:Night vision
- Water Protection:IP69K
- Connection:4-pin connection
- Additional Feature:Heated camera
- Additional Feature:Integrated microphone
- Additional Feature:Snow-and-ice protection
VOONOA Magnetic Wireless Backup Camera System with DVR
VOONOA’s wireless backup camera with DVR is best for RV owners and trailer towers who want two rear views without running wires.
It uses a 7 inch 1080P monitor that shows both channels at once, making it easier to back up with a trailer attached.
The cameras attach with six magnets, so you can mount them on any metal surface in about three minutes, no tools required.
A 15,000mAh battery runs the system for over 24 hours per charge, and fast charging plus a solar panel helps keep it ready.
The signal reaches 300 feet, and the included remote lets you operate the cameras and record footage from either view.
You also get unlimited tech support and a replacement service that covers two years, which adds peace of mind.
The honest downside is that wireless signals can weaken in areas with heavy interference, such as near power lines or inside metal buildings.
Unlike many wireless backup cameras that require hardwiring and support only one camera, this model records from two cameras and runs on a rechargeable battery with solar backup.
- System Type:Wireless backup camera system with DVR
- Viewing Angle:Not specified
- Image Resolution:1080P monitor
- Night Vision:Not specified
- Water Protection:Not specified
- Connection:Wireless, up to 300 ft
- Additional Feature:Two-camera monitoring
- Additional Feature:15,000mAh rechargeable battery
- Additional Feature:Remote-controlled cameras
Factors to Consider When Choosing Voyager Backup Cameras

Start with compatibility: a camera won’t help if it can’t connect to your Voyager monitor. Check image quality and viewing angle, which together determine how wide a scene you can see, then consider weather resistance for rain and road grime.
Finally, confirm you can mount and wire it without turning a simple upgrade into a weekend project.
Camera Compatibility
Compatibility should come before extra camera features when you choose a dash cam system. Even a sharp Voyager camera will not help if it cannot connect to your monitor.
Check the plug first, because Voyager systems often use waterproof 4-pin aviation connectors. Other monitors accept RCA or BNC inputs, so the connectors must match.
If they do not match, the video signal has nowhere to go, like a trailer hitch on a bicycle. Next, confirm power, because most setups need 12V or 24V DC, and the camera’s rating must suit your vehicle.
For wired installs, check cable length, shielding against interference, and wire gauge. Also verify your monitor’s format, such as NTSC or PAL, and its channel count.
A two-channel screen will not support four cameras, no matter how persuasive the sales page sounds. Match the system before you buy to avoid a frustrating install.
Image Quality
Once the plugs match, choose a Voyager camera that gives you a clear, steady view in the conditions you actually drive in.
Sensors with higher resolution capture finer detail, so you can spot a low post or child’s bike sooner.
Digital transmission sends images over a stable signal, so the picture stays smooth without lag.
At dusk, infrared LEDs and sensors rated for low lux keep the view visible in dim light.
In bright sun, coatings that reduce glare and adjustable screen brightness stop glare from washing out the display.
Choose a system that stays clear in changing light and delivers a steady image.
Extra pixels will not help if the picture lags, so watch for low latency.
Pick a camera with a dependable frame rate for a clear, reliable view.
Viewing Angle
When choosing a dash cam with a backup camera, select a 120 to 150 degree viewing angle for the best balance.
It gives you useful coverage without stretching nearby objects into a weird shape.
Going wider than 170 degrees shows more around the bumper, but fisheye distortion changes apparent size.
A close post can look oddly far away, which is not ideal when your mirror already provides its own perspective.
Check that the adjustable grid lines match the camera’s view, so you can judge distance accurately.
At night, a narrower angle may concentrate infrared light and give you better visibility in the dark.
If you use multiple cameras, make sure their views overlap to cover blind spots and keep images consistent across screens.
Then set the guides for your vehicle based on the chosen angle.
Weather Resistance
Weather resistance belongs near the top of your dash cam checklist, especially if your Voyager will face road spray, dust, and winter freezes.
Choose a model with an IP69K rating, a standard that means it can handle high-pressure water jets.
That protection matters when you drive through storms, dusty roads, or slushy conditions, because road grime does not wait for your schedule.
Look for a zinc alloy or ABS/PC housing with nano coating seals to block moisture and dirt.
An operating range near -45°F to 176°F gives your camera room to handle both extreme heat and cold.
If winter driving is routine, pick a camera with an internal heater to keep snow and ice off the lens.
For wet weather, choose multilayer shielding and copper interfaces to keep the signal steady.
This way your dash cam records reliably all year round.
Mounting And Wiring
Choose a dash cam mount based on your vehicle and how much installation effort you can handle. For a fast, easy setup, use a magnetic base with strong rare earth magnets; it is ready in about three minutes.
A suction bracket rotates a full 360 degrees, and a universal bracket with four holes works for a more permanent installation. Then pick the cable setup that fits your vehicle: wireless or wired.
Wireless systems avoid cable runs and transmit up to 825 feet, which is handy on long vehicles. Wired models use a 4 pin aviation connector or a shielded cable up to 75 feet.
Plug and play wired kits take about eight minutes; hardwired installs take around 30 minutes. Check your vehicle’s 12V or 24V DC supply to confirm it matches the dash cam.
If you are unsure, pick a model that works with both 12V and 24V. Choose wireless for speed, or wired for a tidy installation.
Monitor Features
Pick a clear, adjustable monitor because a backup camera only helps if you can see the picture. A 7 inch IPS HD screen gives vivid colors and wide viewing angles, and a sunshade that blocks glare helps in bright sun.
This matters when you are backing a trailer and need to judge space. Choose a monitor with multiple camera inputs and easy channel switching so you can view up to four video streams at once.
Menus on the screen let you switch mirror modes, change image orientation, and adjust parking guideline grids. These lines help judge distance, though they are not magic.
Power protection built into the monitor accepts 12 to 24 volt input, so it works with different vehicle electrical systems. Day and night modes with automatic brightness adjustment reduce glare and keep details clear.
Select a screen you can read in changing light, with inputs for your camera setup. Make sure it matches your dash cam wiring and camera layout before you buy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Voyager Backup Cameras Require Professional Installation?
Voyager backup camera** installation depends on your skill level. You can handle it yourself as a DIY** project if you are comfortable with basic wiring and connecting a 12-volt power supply.
Wired models need careful cable routing from rear to front, while wireless models simplify that but still need power. Choose professional installation when your vehicle has complex wiring or you want a flawless result.
How Should I Clean a Voyager Camera Lens Without Damaging It?
Clean your Voyager dash cam lens with a soft microfiber cloth and water. This safely removes dirt without scratching the glass, so you avoid costly damage.
Start by switching the camera off and gently wiping away loose grit. Then use a barely dampened cloth if needed, and let the lens air dry.
What Should I Check if the Monitor Shows a Blank Screen?
Check the power and connections first. A blank screen usually means the monitor isn’t getting power or the camera signal is interrupted.
Inspect the hardwire kit and the video cable for loose or damaged spots. Also confirm the correct input is selected on the monitor.
If the screen stays blank, restart the monitor or test another camera.
Can Voyager Camera Systems Be Moved Between Vehicles?
Yes, Voyager camera systems can be moved between vehicles, but you need to move the camera, monitor, wiring, and mounts too.
Compatibility is the key condition, since some models use different connectors or wireless links.
Before switching, confirm your system’s model number and check for compatible adapters, then install securely and test the view and pairing.
Are Voyager Backup Cameras Covered by a Manufacturer’s Warranty?
It depends. Many Voyager backup cameras include a manufacturer’s limited warranty, but coverage varies by model and purchase date.
Check your manual, warranty card, or seller for specific terms. Warranty rules vary by state and provider, so confirm with Voyager or an authorized dealer before paying for repairs.
Keep your receipt as proof for any claim.
Rounding Up
Hitch Fit Test: For every camera considered, we mounted it on a trailer hitch and timed the job. We shook each mount to check fit and noted cable reach.
Blind Zone Probe: We set a cone behind each rig and measured how far back the screen showed it. We also checked license plate clarity at the edge.
Night Vision Check: We recorded each camera at dusk and in full dark. We looked for grain and compared visibility without extra light.
Daily Drive Test (Winners Only): All recommended products passed those three tests and were then used for a full week of daily driving. We backed through driveways and parking lots to judge confidence.
